Engaged For Life

Our dear Revathy(2007-10 batch) have found a parter for life in Mr ADARSH*.He is   working as a software engineer  at  SunTech , Technopark TVM.The whole MCA family and the Clarion Team wishes all the best for her wedding day and life there after.

Getting artistic on vegetables

As part of celebrating the 100 th  International  Womens Day,the women cell of Marian College organized a training session on Vegetable Carving for the students and staff of the college.The classes were taken by Mrs Shyla Mathew and Mr Mathew Kurian of  MMH department. The class started at 3.30 pm,45 students and teachers from different departments attended the session, Miss Nirmala George from MCA department,Mrs Juby George from BCA department and sister Caroline were also present in this session,some of the students from MCA were also there. 

     Within short time bitter melon was transformed into a  parrot,and then  onion,carrot,beetroot blossomed into flowers and finally an apple evolved into a duck.Students also got their chance to experiment with their imaginations.Decorating fresh ,well formed and colourful fruits and vegetables through artistic carving is by no means difficult,all it takes is enthusiasm and practice,we were told.One  can design as far as  her  imaginations get wild.
     If such small creations brings such joy to the mind ,one can only wonder, how much joy the CREATOR  might have felt in making this universe and its beings.

In my life I felt its reality when I entered into the software industry as an Engineer. I am proud and has pleasure to say that “My College” is Marian College, Kuttikanam, moulded me suitable not only for the industry but for all walks of life. 

      I had been a student of Marian College from 2001-2004 for my MCA course. At this period the college as a whole and its prestigious faculty gave experiences that would enable me to cop up with problems and to tackle them positively. For the same the college gave us ample chances to develop our personality, leadership qualities with humanitarian perspectives. 
     I can give an example of my own. In my period an association named Matrix was organised and I am happy to say that I was the first secretary of the same. As it gave me confidence in dealing many people which paved way to my present occupation in my company in a leading role. 

 So in all respects, my college moulded my life.

More penguins hatches out of MICAS lab

As part of the certification programs we have just finished an eight days RHCE orientation class  for the final year MCAs.Mr Anand Pavithran from IPSR solutions was the Trainer and the class was conducted in Marian International Center for Advanced Studies(MICAS).In these days a comprehensive coverage of RHCE course package was done .We even had some lighter moments when ,out of enthusiam one of the particapant Mr Shebin when tried to install Linux ,lost his windows login as well. The program was well appreciated by the participants  and they even mentioned that Mr Anand  was one of the best external trainers  they ever had .

Amal Sir takes on Mr Bill Gates

Mr Amal Mathai[RHCE,RHCSS,RHCA] made us understand the importance of open source technology and gaining momentum of Linux OS.He striped  out Windows OS and pointed out that when we buy a Windows OS we are paying for 25000 known bugs too.He was taking a seminar on open source technology attended by First year MCAs and Final Year BCAs of Marian College. Mr Amal is a former  faculty of Marian College MCA dept and currently working as  a senior consultant in  Red Hat India.

A puzzle - test your logical skills

Oh !!! Lakshmi mol is really confused... People, please help her...

Lakshmi mol lives in a village where they have 3 temples. Each temple has a pond. According to the villagers and folklore, if the Gods have to be pleased, each person should visit all the 3 temples and offer the same number of flowers at each temple. However, before you offer flowers at a temple, you have to be dip all the flowers you have, in the pond of that temple. But that's where the real magic is. When you dip the flowers in pond they double themselves. Also, please note, Gods won't be pleased, if you take back home any flower that you brought to the temples to offer. So do not take anything back home.

Now Lakshmi mol wants to visit the temples. But she is totally confused... Can you help her ??? Can you answer her questions ??? She has 2 questions for you...

1. How many flowers should I take, when I am going to the temples ???
2. And how many flowers should I offer at a temple ???

An Introduction to Cinematography

Nothing is stationary. Everything changes with time. That change on art resulted in the creation of the movie and the movie industry. Thinking or studying the movies, deeply, reveal that it is a collection or mixture of many things. Think of it from the arts perspective - you have so many of them like, story, acting, directing, songs, etc. Likewise think of it from the point of view of technology or society. You will find many a factors contributing to it. And this makes the movies different from other art forms. For any movie to be considered or recognized as good,  it should give a good mixture of all these factors.

The main aim and role of any art form is to communicate and bring in values to the society. Being an art form, the movie, also has this duty or property to it. That is why later on, the movies, from being just an art form, turned to become a medium of commuciating with and entertaining the society. It is due to this property of the movie, that it affects the society and vice versa and everything around the human society becoming a theme for it. So this makes any study, discussion or critisism on a movie very important.
