The PG Department of Computer Applications, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous),in association with the IKS Centre, organized the Inaugural Ceremony of the programme "Indian Knowledge Systems: Foundations for an AI Era.”
The programme was held on 10 September 2026 at 9:30 AM at SOPHOS. The ceremony brought together distinguished personalities from the institution and the field of Indian Knowledge Systems. Dr. Mendus Jacob, Director, MCA, delivered the welcome and introductory speech, while Prof. Dr. Joby Cyriac, Vice Principal and Coordinator, IQAC, inaugurated the programme and delivered the keynote address. Dr. Suresh Namboothiri, Resource Person and Expert in IKS, delivered the special address, and Dr. Justin P.J,Coordinator, IKS, offered the felicitation.
The programme focused on the importance of understanding Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and exploring their relevance in the rapidly developing era of Artificial Intelligence. The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of an initiative aimed at connecting traditional Indian knowledge with modern technological and academic developments.
Workshop – Indian Knowledge Systems: Foundations of the AI Era
Day 1
The two-day workshop provided students with valuable insights into the significance of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and their relevance in the modern technological world. Dr. Suresh Namboothiri shared his expertise and practical perspectives on the connection between traditional knowledge, education, innovation, and contemporary technology.
The sessions explored how the foundational principles of Indian Knowledge Systems can be related to modern fields such as Artificial Intelligence, computer science, algorithms, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning. Students were encouraged to look beyond their regular academic curriculum and develop a broader perspective on the application of traditional knowledge in addressing contemporary technological and societal challenges.
Day 2
