A one-day “Code with React – A Hands-On Workshop” was organized by the PG Department

of Computer Applications, for MCA students. The session aimed to introduce students to the

fundamentals of React, strengthen their understanding of modern frontend development, and

provide practical experience in building web applications using React.

The session began with an introduction to React and its basic concepts. The resource persons explained the purpose of React, its importance in modern web development, and how it can be used to create interactive and reusable user interfaces. Students were introduced to the basic structure of a React project and were guided through the initial setup and development process.

The workshop gradually progressed through the fundamental concepts of React, including JSX, components, props, state, event handling, and reusable UI components. Each concept was explained through practical demonstrations, allowing students to understand how the different elements of React work together in a frontend application. Students actively participated in the hands-on coding sessions and implemented the concepts alongside the resource persons.

Special emphasis was given to component-based development and practical implementation. The resource persons demonstrated how a web interface can be divided into reusable components and how these components can be organized to create a structured and maintainable application. Students were encouraged to experiment with the concepts and develop their own interfaces during the session.

As the final hands-on activity, students were guided to build a simple personal portfolio website using React. The project involved creating different sections of a portfolio, organizing the content into components, and applying basic styling to produce a functional and presentable website. Students customized the portfolio with their own details, skills, projects, and other relevant information.

Throughout the workshop, Mr. Abhishek V Gopal and Mr. Arjun A Acharray provided continuous guidance and support to the students. Their practical demonstrations and interactive approach helped students understand React concepts more effectively and encouraged them to explore frontend development through hands-on practice.

The workshop proved to be a highly informative and engaging learning experience for the participants. The session helped students develop a basic understanding of React, improve their frontend development skills, and gain practical experience in creating a web application. The completion of the personal portfolio project provided students with an opportunity to apply the concepts learned during the workshop to a real-world application.

Overall, the “Code with React – A Hands-On Workshop” was a valuable technical learning experience that enhanced students' knowledge of React and modern web development while encouraging them to further explore frontend technologies and build creative digital solutions.
