Placement Training Program Equips MCA Students for Campus Recruitment

The PG Department of Computer Applications organized a Placement Training Program for the First Year MCA students on 2 June 2026. The session was led by Dr. Brijesh George John, who provided valuable insights into placement preparation, resume building, and the recruitment processes followed by organizations during campus placements.



The program commenced with an overview of the campus placement process and the various stages involved in recruitment. Dr. Brijesh George John explained the complete placement workflow, beginning with company registration and eligibility requirements, followed by resume screening, online assessments, technical interviews, HR interviews, and final selection. He emphasized the importance of thorough preparation and maintaining professionalism throughout each stage of the recruitment journey.



One of the most engaging segments of the session was a live analysis of a student's CV. Using an actual student resume as an example, the resource person conducted a detailed review and highlighted common mistakes such as poor formatting, grammatical errors, lengthy content, lack of measurable achievements, and the absence of relevant industry keywords. He demonstrated practical ways to improve the document, making it more concise, professional, and appealing to recruiters. This hands-on activity enabled students to understand the expectations of employers and the key elements of an effective CV.



The session also focused on the importance of customizing resumes to match specific job roles. Students were advised to strategically present their projects, technical skills, certifications, and achievements to align with employer requirements. The significance of maintaining updated professional profiles on platforms such as LinkedIn and GitHub was also discussed.

Another important topic covered during the program was the growing role of online assessments in modern recruitment. Dr. Brijesh George John explained the various types of tests commonly conducted by companies, including aptitude tests, logical reasoning assessments, quantitative aptitude, verbal ability evaluations, coding challenges, programming assessments, and technical assignments. He shared practical strategies for improving performance in these assessments and encouraged students to practice regularly using online learning and coding platforms.



The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and seeking clarification on placement-related topics. The real-life examples and practical insights shared by the resource person helped students gain a clearer understanding of industry expectations and recruitment standards.
