Placement Training Program on CV Preparation Conducted for MCA Students

The PG Department of Computer Applications successfully organized a Placement Training Program on CV Preparation for the Second Year MCA students on 1 June 2026. The session was conducted by Mr. Jaison Mathew, Placement Officer, who shared valuable insights into professional CV writing and current placement trends in the IT industry.

The program commenced with an overview of the evolving placement landscape in the technology sector. Mr. Jaison Mathew highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals in emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Full-Stack Development. He emphasized that recruiters today evaluate candidates based not only on academic performance but also on their technical competencies, project experience, certifications, internships, and communication skills.

A major focus of the session was the importance of a well-structured Curriculum Vitae (CV) in the recruitment process. Students were guided through the essential sections of an effective CV, including personal details, career objectives, educational qualifications, technical skills, academic projects, certifications, internships, achievements, and extracurricular activities. The resource person stressed the need for clarity, conciseness, and professionalism in presenting information.

The session also addressed common mistakes frequently observed in student CVs, such as grammatical errors, poor formatting, inclusion of irrelevant details, use of unprofessional email addresses, and exaggeration of skills. Students were advised to ensure accuracy and honesty while preparing their resumes.

In addition, Mr. Jaison Mathew shared practical strategies for developing recruiter-friendly and ATS-compatible CVs. He encouraged students to customize their CVs for specific job roles, incorporate industry-relevant keywords, use action-oriented language, and highlight significant projects and accomplishments. The importance of regularly updating professional profiles and resumes was also discussed.
