A Value Education session was conducted in our class on the topic “Civic Sense” by Joseph Dominic and Riya Boban.
The aim of the session was to help students understand the importance of civic sense, fostering a sense of responsibility towards their community, public property, and the environment.
The session highlighted that civic sense is not merely about following rules but about cultivating an attitude of social responsibility and consideration for others. It encouraged students to reflect on their own actions in various public and private settings and identify how individual behavior contributes to the overall well-being of the community.
The resource persons engaged the students by first showing a thought-provoking video on the consequences of poor civic sense. This was followed by a highly interactive activity where students were presented with real-life scenarios related to cleanliness, traffic discipline, and social responsibility.
Students, in groups and individually, were encouraged to share their opinions on these scenarios, discussing the values being ignored and potential remedies. This made the session lively and participative.
Overall, the Value Education session was an enriching experience that inspired students to practice civic sense in their daily lives, thereby fostering a cleaner, more considerate, and supportive learning and community environment.
