Overview:

As part of the Red Hat Academy initiative, the Department of Computer Applications organized an intensive hybrid training program titled "Linux for Professionals: Red Hat RHCSA & RHCE Training Series – 1" for students of the MCA 2024–2026 batch. Conducted from 17th February to 15th July 2025, this training was designed to provide in-depth practical knowledge and prepare students for two of the most in-demand Linux certifications: RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) and RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer).

The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Szen John P., a Red Hat Certified Instructor & Technical Leader, known for his expertise in Cloud and DevOps training. His experience in delivering industry-aligned content significantly contributed to the quality and relevance of the sessions.




Objectives:
  • To introduce students to Linux operating systems and enterprise system administration.
  • To deliver comprehensive hands-on training aligned with RHCSA and RHCE certifications.
  • To enhance student career readiness in Linux administration and DevOps roles.
  • To offer certification-based training through Red Hat Academy resources.


Course Content Highlights:
  • Linux architecture and command-line operations
  • User management and permissions
  • Software management and storage administration
  • Networking, firewall configuration, and SELinux
  • Logical Volume Management (LVM)
  • Job scheduling, system services, and process control
  • SSH, scripting, and automation tools
  • System security and troubleshooting
  • Configuration management using Ansible (RHCE component)
Training Methodology:

  • Hybrid Mode: Sessions were conducted both online and offline to ensure flexibility and engagement.
  • Hands-on Labs: Practical lab sessions were provided through Red Hat Academy’s official environment.
  • Assessments & Assignments: Periodic evaluations helped monitor progress and reinforce learning.

Outcomes:

  •  students from the MCA 2024–2026 batch actively participated in the training.
  • Students gained significant command-line and administrative skills in Linux environments.
  • Many participants are in the process of attempting the RHCSA/RHCE certification exams.
  • The training enhanced both theoretical understanding and real-world technical skills.
Feedback Summary:

Participants highly appreciated the practical nature of the sessions, the clarity of instruction by Mr. Szen John P., and the structured learning provided through Red Hat Academy. Many expressed confidence in pursuing Red Hat certifications and Linux-based roles in the future.


Conclusion:

The "Linux for Professionals: Red Hat RHCSA & RHCE Training Series – 1" marked a major step toward industry-integrated learning for the MCA 2024–2026 batch. By combining expert instruction, Red Hat Academy resources, and flexible delivery, the program successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements. The department looks forward to organizing advanced modules and certification support in the coming semester.
