Overview:

As part of the Red Hat Academy initiative, the Department of Computer Applications organized an intensive hybrid training program titled "Linux for Professionals: Red Hat RHCSA & RHCE Training Series – 1" for students of the MCA 2024–2026 batch. Conducted from 17th February to 15th July 2025, this training was designed to provide in-depth practical knowledge and prepare students for two of the most in-demand Linux certifications: RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) and RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer).

The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Szen John P., a Red Hat Certified Instructor & Technical Leader, known for his expertise in Cloud and DevOps training. His experience in delivering industry-aligned content significantly contributed to the quality and relevance of the sessions.




Objectives:
  • To introduce students to Linux operating systems and enterprise system administration.
  • To deliver comprehensive hands-on training aligned with RHCSA and RHCE certifications.
  • To enhance student career readiness in Linux administration and DevOps roles.
  • To offer certification-based training through Red Hat Academy resources.

Training Methodology:

  • Hybrid Mode: Sessions were conducted both online and offline to ensure flexibility and engagement.
  • Hands-on Labs: Practical lab sessions were provided through Red Hat Academy’s official environment.
  • Assessments & Assignments: Periodic evaluations helped monitor progress and reinforce learning.

Outcomes:

  •  students from the MCA 2024–2026 batch actively participated in the training.
  • Students gained significant command-line and administrative skills in Linux environments.
  • Many participants are in the process of attempting the RHCSA/RHCE certification exams.
  • The training enhanced both theoretical understanding and real-world technical skills.
Feedback Summary:

Participants highly appreciated the practical nature of the sessions, the clarity of instruction by Mr. Szen John P., and the structured learning provided through Red Hat Academy. Many expressed confidence in pursuing Red Hat certifications and Linux-based roles in the future.


Conclusion:

The "Linux for Professionals: Red Hat RHCSA & RHCE Training Series – 1" marked a major step toward industry-integrated learning for the MCA 2024–2026 batch. By combining expert instruction, Red Hat Academy resources, and flexible delivery, the program successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements. MCKA Orientation

An orientation session on the MCKA.IN website was conducted for the first-year MCA students (2025–27 batch) on 23rd July 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The session aimed to familiarize the new students with the official academic portal, its functionalities, and how to effectively navigate and utilize it throughout their course.

The session began with an introductory note by Satheesh Kumar Sir, who highlighted the importance of the MCKA.IN platform in academic activities. Following this, M. Kiran gave a warm and respectful introduction of the session’s resource person, Dr. Sr. Italia Joseph Maria, who then led the main orientation.




Dr. Sr. Italia Joseph Maria conducted a detailed walkthrough of the website, beginning with the login page. She patiently explained each section of the site, including navigation tools, student dashboards, assignment portals, academic announcements, and other key modules. Each feature was clearly demonstrated, ensuring that students understood how to access and use the site efficiently. She also elaborated on important academic details such as course outcomes and the mark division structure relevant to their MCA curriculum.

The session was informative and interactive, allowing students to clarify their doubts regarding the use of the platform. It concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, marking the end of the orientation session.





Creative Studio

 Report on the Creative Studio 

 A 3-Day AI-Integrated Creativity Enhancement Workshop

The Creative Studio workshop was a three-day immersive learning experience designed to bridge creativity with artificial intelligence. Held at Marian College, Kuttikkanam, from 19th to 21st July 2025, the event aimed to empower participants with creative, collaborative, and communication skills using AI-integrated tools and methodologies.






Day 1: 19th July 2025

The first day of the Creative Studio workshop commenced with a joint session led by Mr. Krishnaraj S, author and certified JCI trainer, and Dr. Robin Mathew, a distinguished motivational speaker and State Resource Team Member in Education. 

The session began with a discussion on creative thinking in the age of AI, where the facilitators emphasized the importance of blending human imagination with emerging technologies. To set a powerful tone, a video presentation featuring Vinisha Umashankar—a Class 8 student from Tamil Nadu who designed an award-winning solar ironing cart to reduce charcoal usage—was showcased. The story served as a remarkable example of youth-led innovation,

encouraging participants to think beyond conventional limits and focus on socially impactful ideas.

Following the introduction, participants were guided through foundational concepts of creativity, ideation, and AI-assisted innovation. The facilitators explained the objectives of the day’s activities and assigned a creativity-based tasks, designed to stimulate problem-solving, collaboration, and digital ideation.



Participants were then divided into 10 teams, each tasked with developing a unique idea or concept using creativity-enhancement strategies introduced during the session. Adequate time was provided for brainstorming and execution. In addition to the group task, an aptitude test was conducted to assess each participant's logical reasoning and cognitive agility, laying the groundwork for further development in the following sessions.



The day concluded with team reflections and facilitator feedback, ensuring that participants were well-aligned and prepared for the hands-on sessions in the days to come.


Day 2: 20th July 2025

The second day of the Creative Studio workshop was fully devoted to practical task execution and mentoring support. All ten teams actively engaged in developing their creative outputs, making optimal use of the time allotted. The focus of the day was on implementation, team collaboration, and applying creativity through AI-integrated tools and ideas.

In the afternoon session, an Ethical Debate was conducted on the theme: “Artificial Intelligence in the Real World.” Each team was assigned a unique topic related to AI's societal impact. Participants showcased critical thinking, articulation, and ethical reasoning skills as they debated both benefits and challenges.



Following the debate, the short film prepared by the teams was reviewed by a panel comprising Mr. Krishnaraj S, Dr. Robin Mathew, and Dr. Mendus Jacob Sir. The panel provided detailed feedback, highlighted the strengths of the concept, and suggested areas for improvement. Additionally, they contributed new creative ideas to enhance the storytelling and visual impact of the video.

The panel also conducted a monitoring and feedback session for the other four ongoing tasks. Each team was given the opportunity to present their progress and raise queries. The mentors offered individual guidance, resolved doubts, and provided constructive suggestions to refine their creative solutions.

As a surprise task, teams were instructed to develop a brochure and a promotional video for the creative studio. This challenge aimed to test their time management, design, and marketing communication skills within a tight deadline. Teams embraced the challenge enthusiastically, demonstrating agility and creativity.


Day 3: 21st July 2025

The final day of the Creative Studio workshop began with a morning session where all teams were given time to complete their tasks and make final improvements. Participants worked on polishing their short films, brochures, promotional videos, and other tasks. 

In the afternoon, the final showcase session was held in front of a review panel that included Mr. Krishnaraj S, Dr. Mendus Jacob, and Mr. Satheesh Kumar Sir. Each team presented their final projects. The short film was screened and received special attention for its creativity and message. The reviewers gave appreciated of the effort. 

Other tasks were also reviewed each team had to interview three people about a common social issue and then perform a role play based on what they learned. This activity helped students improve their communication, understand real-life problems, and think ethically. The role plays were thoughtful and showed how students could connect creativity with real-world situations.




The program ended with final comments from the mentors, who praised the students for their hard work and creativity over the three days. They also reminded everyone about the importance of using technology responsibly and creatively. A digital platform was introduced where students could upload all their documents, videos, and final outputs. This will help keep a record of the projects and make it easy to share and showcase their work in the future.

An Alumni Meet was organized for MCA students on July 16, 2025, at the MCA Department. The session was led by Mr. Ajo P John, an esteemed alumnus from the MCA 2002–2005 batch, who is currently working as an Enterprise Solutions Architect at Crown Castle, USA


.


During the session, Mr. Ajo shared his inspiring career journey and gave students valuable insights into the industry trends and expectations. He spoke about the skills needed to excel in the tech world and the importance of continuous learning and adaptability. His words encouraged students to dream big and work hard toward their goals.



The session was interactive, with students engaging in a Q&A round where they asked about career paths, work culture abroad, and opportunities in enterprise-level IT solutions.

Overall, the alumni meet was an inspiring and enriching experience, offering students a glimpse into global career opportunities and real-world experiences from a successful former student.

The Inauguration & PTA Meet for the MCA Batch 2025-2027 was held on July 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the MAGIS Mini Auditorium. The event outlined a comprehensive schedule encompassing welcoming remarks, various presentations, significant speeches, and a vote of thanks, indicating a well-planned program for the new batch and their parents.



Key Highlights of the Schedule:

  1. Welcome & Inaugural Proceedings:

    • The event commenced with a Welcome Dance performed by Sonat, Sneha, Meghana Namitha, Riyana, and Adithya, setting a warm tone for the gathering.

    • This was followed by an "MCA Vibes" Video Presentation, likely showcasing the department's essence and activities.

    • The Prayer was led by Nisha and Anitta.

    • Mr. Satheesh Kumar S, Assistant Professor and Class Teacher for the 2025-27 batch, delivered the Welcome Speech.

    • The Inaugural Ceremony was marked by the traditional Lighting the Lamp.

    • Introductory Speech: Dr. Mendus Jacob, Director of the MCA Dept. and CEO of IPSR Solutions, provided an introduction.

    • Manager's Address: V.Rev.Fr. Boby Alex Mannamplackal, Manager of MCKA and Vicar General, Kanjirapally Diocese, delivered the Manager's address.



    • Words of Blessings: Rev. Fr. Thomas Abraham, Administrator of MCKA, offered words of blessings.

    • Words of Encouragement: Dr. Joby Cyriac, Vice Principal of MCKA and IQAC Coordinator, provided words of encouragement to the new batch.



  3. Departmental and Student Focus:

    • A Video Presentation on "Achievements 2024-26 Batch" was scheduled, likely highlighting the successes of the preceding batch.

    • A Dance Performance by Shibin Jose was also part of the program, adding a cultural element.

  4. Important Information & Concluding Remarks:

    • Hostel Guidelines & PTA: Dr. Fr. Shaiju K.S, Vice Principal and Hostel Director & PTA Secretary, provided essential information regarding hostel guidelines and PTA involvement.

    • Placement Opportunities: Mr. Brijesh George John, Associate Professor and Chief Placement Officer, discussed the placement opportunities available to the students.

    • Vote of Thanks: The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sr. Italia Joseph Maria, Assistant Professor, MCA Department.

An Alumni Interaction Session was held on July 4, 2025, at the MCA Department with two alumni from the MCA 2022–2024 batch – Rohan Cherian and Jacob Mathew.





Rohan, currently working as a Mulesoft Developer at Motiveminds Consulting Pvt Ltd, and Jacob, a .NET Developer at Ihits Technologies, shared their experiences of transitioning from college to corporate life. They discussed the importance of technical skills, project work, internships, and how to prepare for placements.

They also gave tips on interview preparation and choosing the right career path. The session was interactive and helped current students understand industry expectations better.

Overall, it was a very informative and motivating session that encouraged students to be career-ready and confident.

The session focused on providing an introduction to the financial sector, its evolution, and essential concepts. The resource person explained how currency evolved over time, including the significance of demonetization and the safety features present in ₹10 currency notes to prevent counterfeiting.




The session also covered various investment options such as jewellery and gold biscuits, along with real estate investments, highlighting their pros and cons. Banking concepts were discussed, including the process of availing loans, recurring deposits (RD), and the advantages and disadvantages of these services. He also pointed out the interest rates offered by banks, along with common offers and fraudulent activities related to loans.

Finally, the session introduced stock market basics, where Mr. Davis shared simple strategies for stock investments that can yield good returns.

Overall, it was an informative session providing essential knowledge about finance, banking, investments, and market trends for students.
