We are happy to announce the launch of the Marian Research Portal, newly integrated into the Marian College website to streamline and digitalize research-related activities.
Faculty members are requested to sign up on the portal, as all research, patent, and travel-related incentives will be processed through the portal going forward.
A tutorial video has also been prepared to guide users through the portal and its features.

The first-year MCA students attended an engaging session on Career Guidance and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) led by Dr. Mendus Jacob, Director, Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous).
During the session, Dr. Mendus Jacob highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available for MCA graduates and emphasized the importance of continuous learning, technical expertise, and essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and confidence. Students were encouraged to gain practical experience through internships, certifications, and real-world projects.
He also stressed the value of building a strong professional identity by creating and maintaining LinkedIn and GitHub profiles for networking, showcasing projects, and improving career prospects.
The session concluded with an introduction to the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework followed at Marian College, explaining how it focuses on measurable learning outcomes, practical knowledge, continuous assessment, and holistic student development.
Overall, the session provided valuable guidance and motivated students to actively develop their skills, embrace lifelong learning, and prepare themselves for successful careers in the IT industry.

Orientation on Examination Systems was conducted for the I MSW students by Mr. Win Mathew John, Assistant Controller of Examinations, providing a comprehensive overview of the college examination regulations, evaluation process, and academic guidelines. The interactive session helped students gain clarity on examination procedures and encouraged them to approach their academic journey with confidence and responsibility.
he Inauguration and PTA Meeting for the newly admitted MCA, MCMS, and MHTM batches (2026–2028) was held on 6 July 2026 at the MAGIS Mini Auditorium, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous). The programme, coordinated by the PG Department of Computer Applications, welcomed students and parents to the institution and introduced them to its academic environment, values, and support systems.

The inaugural function began with a welcome dance by MCA students, followed by a prayer song. Dr. Lumy Joseph delivered the welcome address. The presidential address was given by Prof. Dr. Ajimon George, while the inaugural address was delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Boby Alex Mannamplackal. The programme also included the traditional lighting of the lamp, an administrator's message by Rev. Fr. Thomas Abraham, a session on hostel guidelines and discipline by Fr. Dr. Shaiju K S, and a vote of thanks by Dr. Joby Cyriac.
Following the common session, the MCA Department conducted a departmental orientation led by Dr. Mendus Jacob. He introduced the faculty, explained the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum, academic regulations, examinations, internships, project work, and placement support. An interactive session with parents addressed queries regarding academics and student welfare, followed by the election of the PTA Executive Committee.
The programme concluded with positive interactions among faculty, students, and parents, providing the newly admitted MCA students with a confident and inspiring start to their postgraduate journey
The PG Department of Computer Applications, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) organized Research Connect 2026 – MOU Signing & Faculty Interaction on 02 July 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the MCA Department. The session was coordinated by Ms. Kochumol Abraham and featured Dr. Aswini T. D., Executive Editor, Eduschool Academic Research and Publishers, as the resource person.
The programme aimed to strengthen research collaborations through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and to enhance faculty members' understanding of quality research publication practices. During the interactive session, Dr. Aswini provided valuable insights into the step-by-step process of publishing research papers in reputed journals. The discussion covered identifying research problems, conducting an effective literature review, selecting appropriate journals, manuscript preparation, ethical publication practices, avoiding plagiarism, the peer-review process, responding to reviewers' comments, and strategies for improving the visibility and impact of research publications.
The session also highlighted the importance of selecting journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and UGC-CARE, maintaining research integrity, and adhering to publisher guidelines. Faculty members actively participated in the interaction, raising queries related to journal selection, indexing, publication timelines, and research collaborations.
The programme concluded with the formalization of the MoU and a fruitful interaction that encouraged faculty members to pursue high-quality research and publications. The event served as an excellent platform for promoting a strong research culture and fostering academic collaborations within the department.
ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON IOT SENSORS

The PG Department of Computer Applications observed International Anti-Drug Day on 29 June 2026 from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM in the II MCA Classroom. The programme was conducted in accordance with the circular and the approved pledge issued by the District Social Justice Office, Idukki, with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to lead a healthy, responsible, and drug-free life.
All the students actively participated in the Anti-Drug Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to staying away from drugs and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The pledge was administered as per the approved format provided by the District Social Justice Office, Idukki.
As part of the awareness programme, the II MCA students presented a short awareness video based on the theme "Choose Sports, Not Drugs." The video effectively conveyed the message that engaging in sports, physical activities, and positive hobbies can help young people avoid substance abuse and develop a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. The creative presentation received appreciation from the participants for its meaningful message and impactful visual storytelling.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the students to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to contribute towards building a drug-free society. The PG Department of Computer Applications organized a workshop titled “From Idea to Implementation: A Project Development Workshop” on 24 June 2026 from 10:00 AM to 3:15 PM in the MCA Lab Room. The session was handled by Mr. Jismon Augustine and Ms. Roslin Thomas, who guided the students through various aspects of project development and documentation.
The workshop began with an introduction to the process of selecting an appropriate project topic. The resource persons explained the importance of identifying real-world problems and choosing innovative, feasible, and impactful project ideas. Students were encouraged to focus on projects that address practical needs while aligning with their areas of interest and technical skills.
The session then focused on Requirement Analysis, where the speakers discussed techniques for gathering, analyzing, and documenting project requirements. They emphasized the significance of understanding user needs, defining project scope, and preparing clear functional and non-functional requirements before commencing development.
A detailed discussion was held on the correct methodology for preparing a project report. The resource persons explained the structure of a standard project report, including the abstract, introduction, literature review, system analysis, system design, implementation, testing, results, conclusion, and references. Students were advised on maintaining proper formatting, documentation standards, and technical accuracy throughout the report.
As part of the workshop, students were divided into groups and provided with a sample project. Each group was asked to test the project thoroughly, identify problems and errors, and suggest new features for enhancement. This activity helped students understand the practical aspects of software testing, debugging, and feature improvement. The resource persons reviewed the group findings and provided valuable suggestions for improving the project.
The workshop also covered the importance of software testing and quality assurance. Various testing approaches and validation techniques were discussed to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of software applications.
Towards the end of the session, the resource persons shared their experiences and highlighted common mistakes made by students during project development and project report preparation. These included inadequate requirement analysis, poor documentation practices, lack of testing, improper project planning, and failure to clearly define project objectives. They provided practical recommendations to help students avoid these issues and improve the overall quality of their academic projects.
The workshop was highly interactive and informative, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the complete project development lifecycle—from idea generation to final implementation and documentation. The session concluded with an engaging interaction where students clarified their doubts and received valuable guidance for their future project work.
