MCA guys in Indian Express News, well for a good reason :)

KOCHI: Ever thought you could get an electricity connection by approaching the police station? Well, a group of college students was fortunate enough owing to the goodwill of the city police who literally brought light into their lives.
This group of MCA students from Marian College, Kuttikanam, were in the city to do a project at the Infopark and had rented a house in Palarivattom. One night when they reached their house they found the power connection severed. “It was not our fault as we had paid the rent and all other charges at the time of shifting itself,” said Praveen Daniel.Instead of spending a sleepless night in the company of mosquitoes they decided to seek help from the police.

“That would have sounded like a foolish option to anyone. Those among us mocked at the idea but none of us knew who else to turn to for help. Moreover, we had read a lot about community policing and had often crossed the Janamaithri Police Station in Palarivattom on our way to work,” said Rohit Vijay.
Though they had a stereotyped image of policemen as rude and not-so-people-friendly, their visit to the Janamaithri Police Station brought about a change in their attitude. “Right from constables on duty to the sub-inspector, everyone was helpful and they even enquired how our project was coming along,” said Praveen.
“The SI sympathised with our plight and was considerate. Within minutes he contacted the electricity board and requested them to restore power. As soon as we reached home someone from the KSEB was already there,” said Praveen.
This was a new experience for these youngsters who are now full of praise for community policing.
“Community policing can be strengthened by such good deeds. Many thanks to the Janamaitri Police Station for the help,” said Praveen.
