WORKSHOP ON POWERING AI WITH MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE
REPORT ON WORKSHOP – POWERING AI WITH MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE
Venue: I MCA
Date: 15 September 2026
Resource Person: Szen John
Workshop: Powering AI with Modern Infrastructure – Building the Infrastructure for Agentic AI
Participants: II MCA Students
Introduction
The workshop on “Powering AI with Modern Infrastructure – Building the Infrastructure for Agentic AI” was organized by the PG Department of Computer Applications on 15th September 2026 at I MCA. The session was conducted by Mr. Szen John and provided students with a practical introduction to the use of modern AI tools and infrastructure in web development.
The workshop focused on giving students hands-on exposure to AI agents and their application in developing and deploying web applications. The practical nature of the session allowed students to explore how AI can assist in the development process and how the resulting applications can be deployed for use.
Content of the Programme
The workshop included a practical session in which students were introduced to the use of Hermes Agent for developing the front end of a website. The resource person guided the students through the process and demonstrated how an AI agent could be used to assist in creating a functional web interface.
The students were given the opportunity to work with the tool themselves and create the front end of a website. This hands-on approach helped students understand the practical possibilities of using AI agents in the development process.
A major part of the session focused on deploying the website after its development. The students were guided through the deployment process and were given an opportunity to put their created websites into a working environment. The resource person personally ensured that the students were able to complete the deployment successfully.
The session encouraged students to actively participate and experiment with the technology rather than simply observing a demonstration. By working directly with an AI agent and completing the deployment process, students gained practical exposure to the workflow involved in developing and deploying a web application.
The workshop also helped students understand the growing role of agentic AI and modern infrastructure in software development. It provided an opportunity to explore how AI- powered tools can support developers and simplify different stages of application development.
Conclusion
The “Powering AI with Modern Infrastructure” workshop was an informative and practical learning experience for the students. The hands-on activities provided valuable exposure to the use of Hermes Agent for frontend development and the subsequent deployment of the websites created during the session.
The guidance provided by the resource person ensured that the students were able to complete the deployment process successfully. This practical experience helped students gain a better understanding of how AI agents can be integrated into modern web development workflows.
Overall, the workshop was a valuable opportunity for students to explore agentic AI, AI- assisted development, frontend creation, and application deployment. The practical approach of the session made the topic easier to understand and gave students useful experience that can be applied to their future academic projects and development work.
OUTBOUND TRAINING PROGRAMME
Digital Skills Training: Empowering Students Through Practical Learning
Digital Skills Training: Empowering Students Through Practical Learning
Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous recently organized a Digital Skills Training Programme for students of the MDC (Multidisciplinary Course), with an aim to strengthen their practical digital competencies and familiarize them with tools that are increasingly essential in academic and professional environments.
The training programme was conducted by II MCA students, who took the initiative to share their knowledge and practical experience with their peers. The programme featured three interactive sessions, each focusing on a different digital skill.
Session 1: Introduction to Google Sheets
The first session introduced students to Google Sheets, a widely used cloud-based spreadsheet application. Renjitha V R and Annie Joben handled the session and demonstrated essential features such as creating and organizing spreadsheets, entering and managing data, using formulas, and collaborating through online documents. The session helped participants understand how spreadsheet tools can be effectively used for academic activities and everyday data management.
Session 2: Introduction to AI Tools and Prompt Engineering
The second session focused on the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Binitta Saji and Ann Mary Roy introduced students to various AI tools and explained the fundamentals of prompt engineering. Students were introduced to effective ways of communicating with AI tools through well-structured prompts and explored how AI can support learning, content creation, research, and productivity.
The session also highlighted the importance of using AI responsibly and effectively, encouraging students to view AI as a tool for enhancing their capabilities and not merely as a source of ready-made answers.
Session 3: Poster Designing and Design Tools
The third session focused on poster designing and digital design tools, conducted by Vivek Menon. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of creating visually appealing digital content and learned how design tools can be used to communicate ideas effectively. The practical orientation of the session enabled participants to explore elements such as layout, typography, images, and visual presentation.
Building Digital Confidence
The three-session programme provided students with exposure to some of the digital tools they encounter in their everyday academic and personal activities. From data management and collaboration through Google Sheets, to AI-assisted productivity and prompt engineering, and finally creative communication through digital design, the programme covered a diverse range of relevant skills.
The initiative by the II MCA students demonstrates the value of peer learning, where students not only develop their own expertise but also contribute to the digital literacy of the wider student community.
Through such initiatives, Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous continues to encourage students to develop practical, technology-oriented skills that complement their academic learning and prepare them for the demands of the digital world.
