A Pre-Placement Training programme was conducted on 20th February 2026 for MCA students with the objective of enhancing their presentation skills, communication abilities, and overall placement readiness. The session was led by Krishnaraj S, who serves as the CEO of Synergy Thoughts and is a Master Trainer at ICT Academy of Kerala.

The programme focused primarily on improving students’ confidence, clarity of expression, and structured presentation techniques required for interviews and corporate environments.

The training began with an interactive session in which the resource person explained the importance of effective communication and presentation skills in securing employment opportunities. He discussed key aspects such as body language, voice modulation, content organization, time management, and audience engagement.

The students were divided into eight groups for a collaborative task. To provide practical exposure, students were first asked to deliver individual presentations with other team members. Each student presented individually on different topics, which helped assess their speaking skills, confidence level, and clarity of thought.

Each group was instructed to prepare and deliver a 10-minute group presentation on assigned topics. The activity encouraged teamwork, coordination, and structured content delivery within a fixed time limit.

All groups successfully presented their topics within the allotted time. After each presentation, the resource person provided detailed feedback and practical suggestions for improvement. He highlighted areas such as improving opening statements, maintaining eye contact, managing stage presence, reducing filler words, and structuring conclusions effectively.

Impact of the Programme

The training session significantly enhanced the students’ awareness of professional presentation standards. It helped them identify their strengths and areas requiring improvement. The combination of individual and group activities created a dynamic learning environment and boosted students’ confidence in public speaking.

Ithiri Neram was a heartfelt farewell programme organized exclusively for the MCA senior batch on 19th February. The event was conducted to honour the academic journey, achievements, and memorable moments shared by the MCA seniors during their time at Marian College. The programme aimed to provide a warm and joyful send-off while strengthening the bond between juniors, seniors, and faculty members.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome extended to all MCA senior students. The gathering was addressed by Reny Miss, who warmly acknowledged each of the seniors and appreciated their dedication, discipline, and contributions to the MCA department. Her address created a positive and emotional atmosphere for the event.

Following the welcome session, the seniors actively participated in various performances showcasing their talents. As a token of appreciation and encouragement, small rewards were presented to the seniors for their performances. The event then continued with a series of fun games and interactive tasks, which brought enthusiasm, laughter, and active participation from both seniors and juniors.

Towards the conclusion of the programme, the MCA seniors shared their experiences at Marian College. They reflected on their academic journey, friendships, challenges, and cherished memories, making the session both emotional and inspiring. The event concluded with a group photograph, capturing the togetherness and memorable moments of the farewell programme.

Conclusion

Ithiri Neram was successfully conducted as a memorable farewell programme for the MCA senior batch. CloudQuest – The AWS Innovation Challenge was a three-day intensive bootcamp organized to provide students with strong practical exposure to cloud computing using Amazon Web Services (AWS). The program focused on building real-time cloud infrastructure and deploying applications using AWS services. Emphasis was given to hands-on learning, teamwork, and problem-solving aligned with industry practices.

Day-wise Program Details

Day 1: Introduction to AWS and Core Services

The first day of the bootcamp began with an introductory session on cloud computing and the AWS ecosystem. The resource person explained the step-by-step process of creating an EC2 Launch Template and discussed its importance in managing scalable infrastructure. Students were guided to create an S3 bucket and understand its use for object storage. The session also covered Elastic File System (EFS), including its creation and configuration. A live demonstration was provided on mounting EFS with an EC2 instance to enable shared file storage. Students practiced all the steps simultaneously, gaining hands-on experience.

Day 2: Group Formation and Application Development

On the second day, participants were divided into 10 groups, and each group was assigned a task to design, build, and deploy a working cloud-based application using AWS services. The resource person explained the task requirements and guided students in planning the application architecture. Each group started working on setting up EC2 instances, configuring storage services, and integrating a database. The session focused on implementing the learned AWS concepts in a real-time application environment.

Day 3: Application Deployment and Presentation

On the third day, the groups continued working on their assigned tasks, focusing on completing the deployment and testing of their applications. Each group ensured that the application was successfully hosted on AWS and properly connected to a database. At the end of the day, all groups presented their completed tasks, explaining the architecture, AWS services used, and the deployment process. The resource person evaluated the presentations and provided feedback on performance, implementation, and best practices.

At the end of the bootcamp, students were able to:

Introduction

The IDEA2PATENT event was organized by the PG Department of Computer Applications with the objective of encouraging students to think innovatively and introduce them to the concept of patents, especially design patents. Students were informed that the event would be open for two weeks, during which they could prepare and submit their patent ideas.

Event Execution

The IDEA2PATENT event was conducted over a period of two weeks, allowing students sufficient time to brainstorm, design, and submit their ideas. The event specifically welcomed design patent ideas, making it easier for students from different disciplines to participate.

Students submitted innovative ideas focusing on:

The extended submission period helped students refine their ideas and submit quality concepts.

The E-Football Tournament was conducted as part of CELESTA 26 at Mar Augusthinose College, Ramapuram, bringing together students from various colleges. The competition followed a knockout format, requiring participants to win each match to advance. I participated in the tournament up to the third round. The event was well-organized and provided a competitive platform to showcase gaming skills.

The PG Department of Computer Applications organized a guest lecture for the First Year MCA students as part of the Machine Learning course on 4 February 2026, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The session was handled by Dr. Sunil Job K. A., Chief of Academics at IPSR Solutions Limited, who is an experienced and expert resource person in the field.

The session focused on the statistical foundations that are essential for building machine learning models. Dr. Sunil Job began the class by explaining basic statistical concepts such as variables and their types, emphasizing their importance in data analysis and machine learning.

He then introduced the concept of correlation and explained how relationships between variables can be measured and interpreted. This was followed by a detailed discussion on regression analysis. Different types of regression techniques including Linear Regression, Multiple Regression, and Polynomial Regression were clearly explained with suitable real-world examples.

To make the session more practical and engaging, the resource person demonstrated the use of Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis. Students were guided to plot graphs, analyze data, and visually understand the behavior of variables and regression models. Hands-on practice helped students gain confidence in applying theoretical concepts.

The class was highly interactive, and Dr. Sunil Job K. A. explained complex statistical concepts in a simple and easy-to-understand manner. Real-world examples were used extensively, which helped students clearly understand the relevance of statistics in machine learning model building.

Overall, the session was informative and enriching. It provided students with a strong foundation in statistical concepts that are crucial for machine learning. The guest lecture was highly beneficial and enhanced the students’ understanding of data analysis and model development.

A Value Education session was conducted in our class on the topic “Compassion” as part of Session 7. The session was designed as an interactive and structured debate titled “The Great Compassion Debate: Feeling vs. Action.”

The session began with the word COMPASSION being written on the board and the concept being introduced. A discussion was initiated by asking students whether compassion is primarily an emotion or a responsibility.

The main activity of the session was a structured debate on the question: “What is more important in compassion – Feeling or Action?” The class was divided into two teams based on their viewpoints. Team A represented the idea that compassion begins with feeling, emphasizing empathy, emotional connection, listening, and understanding another person’s pain. Team B supported the idea that compassion is meaningful only when it leads to action, highlighting responsibility, courage to step in, and the importance of helping through practical efforts.

Each team appointed a lead speaker and supporting speakers, while the rest of the members contributed ideas and examples. The debate was conducted in two rounds. In the first round, both teams presented their opening statements, counter-arguments, and final remarks. Students actively participated by sharing real-life examples and personal experiences, which made the discussion engaging and meaningful.

In the second round, a real-life case scenario was presented about a student who seemed isolated and troubled. Team A explained how compassion through feelings would involve understanding, emotional support, and being present for the person. Team B discussed how compassion through action would involve checking on the student, offering help, and taking responsibility to support them. This case-based discussion helped students understand the practical application of compassion in everyday life. The session concluded with the understanding that compassion is not merely a feeling nor just an action, but a combination of both. It begins with recognizing and understanding another’s suffering and ends with meaningful action to help. Students learned that while empathy connects us emotionally, compassion transforms that connection into responsible and life-giving action.

A Value Education session was conducted in our class on the topic “Service” by Annie Joben and Vyasan Biju. The objective of the session was to help students understand the importance of service as a core value that encourages individuals to use their time, talents, and abilities for the well-being of others and the community.

The session emphasized that service is not limited to grand actions or material contributions but is reflected in small, everyday acts such as helping others, listening with empathy, and acting responsibly without expecting recognition. Students were encouraged to understand that genuine service is guided by intention and responsibility rather than appreciation or personal gain.

To engage the students, an interactive discussion and a short video clip were used to explore whether acts of service remain genuine even when they bring happiness to the giver. Based on the video, a debate was conducted, allowing students to express their views and think critically about the concept of selfless service. The discussion highlighted that service benefits both the giver and the receiver and that personal fulfilment does not reduce the value of service. Overall, the session inspired students to practice service in their daily lives and become more empathetic, responsible, and socially aware individuals.

REKHYATRA DRAWING COMPETITION

The Rekhyatra Drawing Competition was conducted by the Department of Business Administration (SF), I BBA B, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous), in connection with Gandhi Jayanti. The competition was organized from 3rd to 9th October, with the theme “Gandhi Jayanti”.

The event aimed to encourage creativity among students and to spread awareness about the values and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi through artistic expression. Participants showcased their drawing skills by portraying Gandhian principles such as peace, non-violence, freedom, and simplicity. The competition provided a platform for students to express their thoughts and respect towards the Father of the Nation through visual art.

The event witnessed active participation from students and successfully promoted artistic talent along with cultural and moral values. Based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and artistic excellence, the entries were evaluated by the judges.

 PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION – WORLD OF ANIME

The Public Speaking Competition was held on 11th November 2025 at 1:40 PM at Logos (Magis), organized by Luminaries on Campus, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous).

The competition was conducted on the theme “Anime”, with the topic “Beyond Ink and Imagination: Why Anime Isn’t Just Cartoons?” Participants were given a time limit of 3 minutes, and any language was permitted, allowing creative freedom and effective expression.

The event aimed to enhance public speaking skills, critical thinking, creativity, and cultural understanding, while challenging the common misconceptions surrounding anime as a form of art and storytelling.
