Introduction

The IDEA2PATENT event was organized by the PG Department of Computer Applications with the objective of encouraging students to think innovatively and introduce them to the concept of patents, especially design patents. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to submit original and creative ideas that could potentially be patented in the future.


Objective of the Event

● To create awareness about design patents
● To encourage innovation and creative thinking among students
● To motivate students to convert ideas into protectable intellectual property
● To identify unique and practical design-based ideas from students



Event Planning and Promotion

The event was carefully planned and coordinated by the PG Department of Computer Applications. To ensure maximum participation, the organizing team prepared and released:

● A promotional video explaining the event concept 

● An event poster shared through college platforms and student groups



● An Website for submitting application for participating


Students were informed that the event would be open for two weeks, during which they could prepare and submit their patent ideas.


Event Execution

The IDEA2PATENT event was conducted over a period of two weeks, allowing students sufficient time to brainstorm, design, and submit their ideas. The event specifically welcomed design patent ideas, making it easier for students from different disciplines to participate.

Students submitted innovative ideas focusing on:

● Product design
● Daily-use improvements
● Practical and creative solutions

The extended submission period helped students refine their ideas and submit quality concepts.

Outcome of the Event

● Received multiple innovative patent ideas from 5 Departments
● Increased awareness about patents and intellectual property rights
● Encouraged a culture of innovation and research thinking

Conclusion

The IDEA2PATENT event was successfully conducted and received positive responses from students. The event played an important role in introducing patent concepts at the academic level and motivated students to think beyond regular classroom learning. The PG Department of Computer Applications effectively coordinated and executed the event, making it a meaningful and educational experience for all participants.
