NATURE CAMP AT PERIYAR TIGER RESERVE
NATURE CAMP AT PERIYAR TIGER RESERVE

Location: Periyar Tiger Reserve, Vallakadavu
Participants: MCA 2024-26 Batch
Objective
The Nature Camp was organized to enhance environmental awareness, provide hands-on conservation experience, and instill a sense of responsibility among students. The event included activities such as trekking, invasive species eradication, and discussions on sustainability.
Summary of Activities
The Nature Camp began at 8:00 AM with the arrival of participants at the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Students completed the registration process and attended a briefing by forest officials, who explained safety measures and the camp's objectives.
At 9:00 AM, the students embarked on a wildlife tracking and observation activity. This guided trekking session allowed them to explore biodiversity, observe wildlife, and understand the significance of natural habitats. The trekking lasted until 11:30 AM, after which students participated in an invasive species eradication drive from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM. This hands-on activity involved identifying and removing invasive plants, contributing to ecosystem restoration efforts.
A lunch break was scheduled from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, during which a vegetarian meal was provided. Post lunch, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, an Environmental Awareness & Sustainability Session was conducted. This session covered discussions on conservation practices, sustainability, and the importance of protected areas in maintaining ecological balance.
Following this, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, students engaged in an interactive Q&A session with forest officials. This discussion provided insights into conservation efforts, environmental science careers, and the challenges faced in protecting wildlife and ecosystems. The session was followed by a reflection and feedback period from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, where participants shared their experiences and provided suggestions for future initiatives.
Finally, at 4:00 PM, students and faculty departed from the Periyar Tiger Reserve, concluding a highly educational and engaging Nature Camp.
Key Outcomes
Increased Awareness: Students developed a deeper understanding of biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability.
Hands-on Experience: Participation in the eradication of invasive species gave students practical knowledge of ecosystem restoration.

The Azure session conducted by our seniors, Sone Sahi and Roshan Paul Babu, was an
informative and hands-on learning experience. The session focused on the Azure platform,
providing us with a clear understanding of its features and applications.
The session began with an introduction to Microsoft Azure, explaining its significance in
cloud computing and its various services. The resource persons elaborated on key concepts
such as virtual machines, databases, storage options, and networking within the Azure
ecosystem.
A major highlight of the session was the practical demonstration, where we actively
participated in deploying applications using Azure. The step-by-step guidance from our
seniors made the learning process smooth and engaging. They also addressed our queries
effectively, ensuring that everyone had a clear understanding of the deployment methods.
The session was interactive, allowing us to apply what we learned in real-time. Overall, it
was a well-structured and insightful session that enhanced our knowledge of Azure and
cloud deployment techniques. The practical exposure gained will be beneficial for future
projects and professional growth.

Day 1: Inauguration & Cultural Programs
The event commenced with an official inauguration ceremony, setting the tone for the celebrations. The afternoon was marked by a spectacular showcase of cultural programs, where students from various departments performed enthusiastically. Among the highlights was the first-year MCA students' dance performance, which was well-received by the audience. Food and snacks were also provided, adding to the enjoyment of the day.
Overall, the College Day celebration was a great success, leaving students and faculty with wonderful memories to cherish.

REPORT ON GATE TO GREATNESS – PHASE 2

The Gate to Greatness – Phase 2 program, led by international life coach and mentor
Mr. Siju Thomas, was an engaging experience designed to enhance communication, leadership,
and personal development.
On Day 1, students participated in Group Discussions (GD), divided into groups and assigned topics to
present. This helped in building public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
Another engaging activity was the Interview Task with Donald Trump, where students took turns role-playi
ng as Trump while others interviewed them, making it a fun and thought-provoking session.
Throughout the day, individual mentoring sessions were also conducted by Mr. Siju Thomas,
providing personalized guidance.

On Day 2, the remaining Group Discussions took place, followed by a Content Writing Task
based on books recommended the previous day. Students summarized and analyzed their assigned books,
then presented their insights. The day concluded with mentoring sessions,
offering students valuable feedback and direction.

Conclusion
The Gate to Greatness – Phase 2 program was an enriching experience,
fostering confidence and skill development in students.
Through interactive discussions, role-plays, content writing, and mentoring, participants
gained valuable insights that will help them in their academic and professional journeys.
